Basic and Important Email Settings.


1. Maximum Page Size
This setting allows you to choose how many emails you want to display per page in your inbox (e.g., 25, 50, or 100 conversations per page).
2. Keyboard Shortcuts
Enables or disables keyboard shortcuts in Gmail. When enabled, you can use keys to quickly navigate and perform actions (e.g., press "C" to compose a new message).
3. Personal Level Indicators
Shows arrows next to messages to indicate if the email was sent to just you (→) or to a group (⇒). It helps identify personal emails quickly.
4. Grammar
Enables grammar suggestions while composing emails to help ensure your messages are clear and error-free.
5. Desktop Notifications
Allows Gmail to send pop-up notifications on your desktop for new emails or important messages—even when Gmail is not open in your browser.


    How to Change Inbox Type:

    1. Open Gmail.
    2. Click the Gear icon (⚙️) at the top right.
    3. Click See all settings.
    4. Go to the Inbox tab.
    5. Select your preferred Inbox Type from the list.
    6. Customize sections as needed.
    7. Scroll down and click Save Changes.

    Inbox Type refers to how your emails are organized and displayed in your Gmail inbox. Gmail offers several inbox types to help you prioritize and manage emails effectively. Here are the main 

    Inbox Types:

    📥 1. Default Inbox
    • Emails are sorted into categories: Primary, Social, Promotions, Updates, Forums.
    • Helps automatically organize email types.
    🔼 2. Important First
    • Emails marked as "Important" appear at the top.
    • Gmail uses AI to determine importance based on your behavior.
    3. Starred First
    • Starred emails appear at the top.
    • Useful for manually prioritizing key emails.
    ⬆️ 4. Priority Inbox
    • Divides inbox into Important and Unread, Starred, and Everything else.
    • Fully customizable.
    🆕 5. Unread First
    • All unread emails are grouped at the top.
    • Helps you focus on what you haven’t seen yet.
    ⚙️ 6. Multiple Inboxes
    • Allows you to create custom sections using search filters.
    • Great for managing specific types of emails.

    Importance Marker in Gmail – Explained

    Gmail’s Importance Marker helps you identify which emails are most relevant to you, using a small yellow arrow (⚡) icon.
    Types of Markers:

    • Yellow arrow (⚡) = Marked as Important
    • No marker = Gmail did not mark it as important
    • You can manually mark or unmark emails as important

    How to Enable or Disable Importance Markers:

    Step-by-step:
    1. Open Gmail.
    2. Click the Settings gear icon (⚙️) at the top right.
    3. Click "See all settings".
    4. Go to the Inbox tab.
    5. Scroll to the Importance markers section.
    Choose:
    • Show markers – to see the yellow arrows
    • No markers – to hide them
    6. Choose whether to use Gmail’s prediction for importance.
    7. Click Save Changes at the bottom.

    How to open Gmail shortcuts ?

    To open the Gmail keyboard shortcuts cheat sheet, press this shortcut while you're in Gmail:

    👉 Press Shift + ?

    This will open a popup showing all the Gmail keyboard shortcuts available, like:
    • c – Compose new message
    • e – Archive
    • r – Reply
    • a – Reply all
    • f – Forward
    • / – Search
    • u – Refresh

    📌 Note:

    If nothing happens when you press Shift + ?, you may need to enable keyboard shortcuts in Gmail settings:
    1. Go to Gmail Settings (click the ⚙️ gear icon > See all settings).
    2. Scroll to the Keyboard shortcuts section.
    3. Select "Keyboard shortcuts on".
    4. Click Save Changes at the bottom.

    How to type a message in Gmail without using a physical keyboard?

    First, go to Google and type "Chrome Web Store" or click here, then type "Dictation for Gmail" in the search bar and click "Add to Chrome".

    Click on the microphone and start speaking. You can right-click to select the language.

    How to Create a Label in Gmail?

    1. Open Gmail

      Go to gmail.com and log into your account.

    2. Find the Labels section
      On the left sidebar, scroll down until you see the list of labels.
    3. Click on "Create new label"
    • If you don’t see it right away, click “More” to expand the list.
    • Scroll down and click “Create new label.”

    How to Delete a Label in Gmail?

    🔹 Step 1: Open Gmail

    🔹 Step 2: Scroll Down to Find Labels

    • On the left sidebar, scroll down until you see the list of labels.
    🔹 Step 3: Click on “Manage labels” or “Settings”
    • Click on the gear icon (⚙️) on the top right.
    • Then click “See all settings.”
    • Go to the “Labels” tab.
    🔹 Step 4: Find the Label You Want to Delete
    • In the Labels section, find the label you want to remove.
    🔹 Step 5: Click "Remove"
    • Click the “Remove” or “Delete” link next to that label.
    • Confirm when prompted.

    ✅ Note:

    • Deleting a label does NOT delete the emails under that label.
    • The emails will still be available in your Inbox or All Mail.
